A relationship with the divine.

The same God that created you, created me. That God created the President, the homeless man, your favourite and least favourite celebrity, family member, friend and associate.

Religion doesn’t teach us to see others as separate, but it has become that way.

Spirituality on the other hand, will tell you to look at yourself as God, and unfortunately, people will believe anything they’re told. Last time I checked, I didn’t create this earth or the people in it. So, the whole “we are God” concept, I personally feel needs to be eradicated.

I don’t believe God is a man up in the sky who says “yes” to some, “no” to some and “not yet” to some. I believe God gives us exactly what we need to grow into the person we’re here on earth to be. Some refer to this as lessons from the universe, karma, so on and so forth.

A relationship with the divine is important. It humbles us greatly.

What I’ve learned over my 28 years on this earth, is that for the most part, we end up manifesting negative situations when we end up thinking it’s going to add to our ego – whether we’re conscious of it or not.

People will pray and cry wolf when God doesn’t answer their prayers. They then blame God for their pain – not themselves.

There is someone I used to know who would make up every excuse under the sun for their life being the way it was, without taking any action on trying to change or improve anything.

God is always there, but you need to make changes too. You need to do the right thing. You need to learn from the hard times – from your pain and from your mistakes.

You can’t keep doing the same thing over and over again then run to God to change your situation when you’ve been unwilling to change.

God isn’t going to give you what you want, because the last time he sent you someone with a good heart and good intentions, you pretty much destroyed them and didn’t bother to even acknowledge, let alone fix your mistakes.

Why would he give you something good again? So you can destroy that too?

You need to learn your lessons. None of us are perfect, but we know when we’re wrong. Apologise. Try and right your wrongs. Sometimes you can’t – and that pain that stays with you is also a lesson – something you’re going to have to live with.

Until you’ve learned exactly what you need, then things will start turning around for you.

People who lack inner peace are usually the ones who keep running from themselves and their mistakes. Regardless of what you change – partners, jobs, place of residence etc – you can never run from you.

You’ll never have faith in God or the universe if you refuse to get rid of your inner demons or choosing to pretend they’re not there.
