Give back to this world.

I’ve attended many personal development workshops, seminars and participated in courses/ programs over the past few years. I’ve paid certain coaches/ mentors tens of thousands of dollars in an attempt to figure out my purpose in life.

The Personal Development field is interesting, because as much as it aims to help people, in hindsight I believe that if anything, it’s stressing people out more (but that’s a story for another time).

So this “million dollar question” – What is your purpose in life?

I’ll tell you for free.

You give back.
You help others – however you can.

Whether it’s through charity, physically helping take care of people, guiding them mentally/ spiritually/ emotionally, through music, through art, through fitness or through starting a business where you care more about the impact you’re making rather than the money you could make. You help others.

We live in a society that cares about status and money, and it’s leading people further and further away from ourselves. So you’re the CEO of a big company with a lot of money in your bank. And? What exactly are people meant to do with that information? Truth is, no one actually gives a fuck. People may be impressed but they’ll eventually be impressed by something else.

People care about how you make them feel.

It is in our nature to have to help serve others. When you look at nature – the sun rises each morning, whether anyone is up to watch it rise or not. The sun gives us life – and it asks for nothing in return.

The trees give us oxygen; asking for nothing in return.

Nature is what helps us thrive. Without asking for anything in return.

Yet here we are – humans. Afraid to give too much of ourselves, or when we do – it may not even be authentically.

The sun still shines daily regardless of how much it helps us grow and thrive. It loses nothing by giving us what it’s meant to.

You won’t lose anything by being giving of yourself or choosing to help others. You’ll feel so much more fulfilled when you do – trust me on this.

I have never regretted giving what I can, when I could. I mean yeah, the petty part of me might post a meme or two about an ex or two who may have wasted my time – but once that ego is pushed aside, I know my soul is at ease and I will never regret the good things I’ve done – whether it’s been returned or not. Because one thing I believe in 120%, is that it is always returned in some shape or form.

So there it is. Your purpose ladies and gentleman – help make this world a better place by helping who you can, however you can. You don’t need to donate a million dollars to charity. It can be as little as having a little more patience when you’re in line at the shops. A little goes a longgggg way.

So… what are you doing for others?
