#Astrology – it’s all in the stars ;)

There was a point in time when I used to think Astrology was complete nonsense so I completely get it when people look at me like I’ve lost my mind.

I understand that certain concepts are relative and I’m not here to convince you to believe me or learn astrology. I’m here to simplify what I’ve learned which has been pivotal in allowing me to understand the world and others, but most importantly, understand myself.

I was raised in a catholic family – so like most people, Astrology was never at the forefront of my beliefs. But one day, it must’ve been around 2010 sometime, when I met someone who asked if I was Libra and yes, yes I am.

I haven’t seen the girl since that day but I did think of her from time to time and found it fascinating how she’d even be able to guess that.

Now I didn’t jump from going to church with my family every Sunday to living by the alignment of the stars overnight. The end of a long-term relationship with my ex boyfriend was. The final time we decided to call it quits, we both knew why – religious differences.

To me, I couldn’t understand how “God” would break my heart like that. I mean the same God/ force/ creation that made him, made me, right? Anyhooooo… the point is, I was on a mission to discover the ‘truth’ behind life in general.

On my whole search for meaning, one thing led to another. I’ve been heavy into researching Astrology for the past few years and I swear by it.

It’s too overwhelming to try and explain in a simple blog post (stay tuned for my astrology course – coming soon), but here’s a little summary.

Just because I’m a Libra doesn’t mean my entire being is going to fit the description of a Libra. Nor does it mean that I’m going to be exactly the same as another Libra.

And this is why…

There are 12 zodiac signs.

You have a sign in each planet.

Each planet (plus the sun and the moon) represents an aspect of who you are.

For example – my zodiac sign (my sun sign/ star sign) is in Libra. Your sun/star sign represents your ego/ consciousness.

This is usually where people think it ends… so they realise the horoscope in the newspaper doesn’t match what happened that day and then disregard all things astrology (well, most people).

Now my moon sign is in Gemini. The moon represents your feelings and emotions. So this would differ with a person who’s star sign is Libra but has a moon sign in Virgo, for example.

Now, to calculate what sign falls in each planet, you look at your birth chart.

Now the moment you were born, the planets and zodiac was positioned in a specific way – at the place of your birth. This is why someone who was born the exact same day I was, at the exact same time on the other side of the world, may share similar characteristics to me but also differ depending on how the planets were positioned at that location.

I hope this makes sense.

Now I always make sure I’m being quite open minded and I don’t usually take anything for gospel unless I have 120% faith and done my research on the topic.

Astrology has helped me understand myself so well. It’s allowed me to understand other people so much better too.

The planets are transitioning as we speak and that plays a huge effect on certain aspects of us, daily.

Now before you take me for a complete lunatic, what’s important to remember is that Astrology is a guide. It doesn’t take into account certain mental health disorders or simple ‘negative’ behaviour (well it somewhat does, but that’s for another discussion).

So with all that said… hopefully this gives you a brief understanding of the validity of Astrology.

If you still think I’m a lil crazy, it’s all good. I used to think the same thing before I began my research too… but don’t override something just because you don’t understand it.

Astrology has also allowed me to accept that there are certain influences which will make it near impossible to ever convince anyone to take any of this into account… and that’s ok too.

But if you’ve read this far – thank you… and if I’ve convinced you even just a little about looking further into it, this post (which I was a little hesitant to even write) will have been worth it.
